Annual vaccination started on October 1st this year. Kaohsiung City's Department of Health held "the press conference for the influenza vaccination promotion" in San-An Hospital on October 2nd due to the lately announced government-funded vaccines for parents of infants under the age of 6 months. This year, the receivers of government-funded vaccines include "parents of infants under 6 months" and "staff in kindergartens, preschools and child care centers" in addition to adults over age 50, children from 6 months to school age, high risk chronic disease patients aged 19 to 49, pregnant women, and students in elementary schools, junior high schools, senior high schools, vocational high schools, or five-year junior colleges with BMI≧30. Department of Health suggests never underestimating the threat of the influenza and actively getting vaccinated to protect your health and your family's, since influenza deaths usually occur in unvaccinated senior citizens with heart, lung, kidney or metabolic diseases. If you are qualified as a receiver of government-funded vaccines, please bring your National Health Insurance Card, National Identification Card, and other relevant documents for identification to receive vaccination in 571 contracted hospitals in Kaohsiung City. Department of Health also holds the activity "Get Vaccinated, Get Big Prizes!" Once you are over 50 years old and get vaccinated before November 5th, you get a chance to win big prizes including massage chairs, robotic vacuum cleaners, and air purifiers.
