“Disease control of Japanese Encephalitis: 2018 Kaohsiung strategies” the special book was published by the department of health

Department of health(DOH) held “The Disease control of Japanese Encephalitis” special book publication press conference at 2:20pm on Dec. 20th.They invited Ministry of health and welfare, center of disease control(CDC), department of agriculture and animal protection, medical association of Kaohsiung city (county) to join the event. This special book was titled “Disease control of Japanese Encephalitis: 2018 Kaohsiung strategies”, containing 8 chapters, including the content of the epidemiology of Japanese encephalitis, the global epidemic situation, the clinical diagnosis and the treatment, the laboratory diagnosis and the vaccination. The department of health (DOH), Kaohsiung City government also put emphasis on the clustered infection and work of the disease control of the Linyuan district in 2018, which provided the citizens to understand the local experience and practice of disease preventing of Kaohsiung city.
The director-general of department of health, Chih-Chong Huang said that there were about 20 cases of clustered infection of Japanese encephalitis happened in Linyuan district in 2018 spring, which was typical cluster infection mode of the disease. The case number, however, had been increasing comparing with the previous years. And it was a great challenge for the department of health. The Kaohsiung city government united all the teams from department of health, department of agriculture, and district office of Daliao and Linyuan, sparing no effort for the disease control. Under the four strategies of “Vaccination”, “environment management”, “the mosquito breeding sources control” and “chemical prevention”, the outbreak of Japanese encephalitis was under controlled within one month. The associated team of the Kaohsiung city government will continue to seek every possible ways to improve the disease control and make the city more a better place to live in.
